Abstract

1,097,607. Heat insulated pipes; pipe joints. COCHRAN & CO. ANNAN Ltd. May 9, 1966 [April 7, 1965], No. 14780/65. Headings F2G and F2P. [Also in Division F4] Two sections 1 and 2 of a chimney assembly, each comprising inner and outer steel tubes 4 and 5 with insulating material 6 therebetween, are held together by a bolt assembly 13 engaging a radially projecting flange 7 secured to both inner and outer tubes of section 1 and a radially extending flange 9 secured to the inner tube 4 and having an axially projecing flange 12 surrounding the outer tube of section 2, a layer of heat-insulating material being included between the flanges 7 and 9. The bolt assembly 13 is surrounded by insulating material 15 held between flanges 16 and 17 and a tubular wall 18 secured to flange 16 but movable relative to flange 17. The lower end of section 2 is identical to the lower end of section 1 and any number of such sections can be added. At the upper end of section 7, the inner tube 4 has a radially extending flange 14 having an axially extending flange 15 secured to its outer end and surrounding the outer tube, the outer tube having an inwardly-extending flange 16A.
