Abstract

1382248 Insulated chimneys F E BEAUMONT Ltd 8 June 1972 [18 June 1971] 28716/71 Heading F4J In an insulated chimney formed by an assembly of modular units 10, 12 each unit comprising concentric steel walls 13, 14 the former having a sheet of mineral wool 25 attached thereto by baling wire 26 and having a space between it and the outer wall 14, the latter carries a horizontal flange turned inwardly at 17, a similar flange 18 and 19 being carried by the wall 13. Adjacent sections are joined by nuts and bolts 27 extending through the flanges 15 and flange sections 17 and 19 are held by nuts and bolts 22 with the interposition of an asbestos strip 20 and an insulating sleeve 23 surrounding each bolt shank. The wall 13 comprises two overlapping sections 13a, 13b united by an asbestos band 24. The penultimate lower section (4, Fig. 1) is formed with a similarly constructed double jacketed inlet section (8, 9) inclined upwardly towards the chimney axis at 60 degrees.
