Abstract

956,060. Cladding joists. EXPANDED METAL CO. Ltd. Jan. 4, 1963 [Jan. 5, 1962], No. 514/62. Heading E1V. Expanded metal lathing 5 embracing the exposed sides of a joist or staunchion 3 is secured to crimped rods 1 attached to at least one flange 2 of the joint. The rods 1 are crimped as at 4 at spaced intervals and spot welded to the flange 2, the lathing 5, preferably of the selfforming type by virtue of indentations 10, being secured to the rods by tie wires 7 and held to the flange 6 by spring clips 8. To increase the apparent cross section of the joist or staunchion the rods 1 may project outwardly from the flanges at 45 degrees to hold the lathing away from the joist.
