1427008 Lattice beams BROCKHOUSE STEEL STRUCTURES Ltd 6 June 1973 [22 June 1972] 29199/72 Heading E1K A lattice beam comprises a pair of chords 11, 12 and a lattice for arrangement comprising a plurality of ties 13, formed of flat strip cross-section metal, welded directly to the chords at contact portions and a plurality of struts 14 welded to the ties at the contact portions so that the tie is interposed between the strut and the chord. The ties are formed from steel strip and the struts from rectangular hollow section steel, the hollow section being narrower than the strip which in turn is narrower than the chords. Prefabricated lattice bar units each comprising a strut welded perpendicularly to a tie may be used, and the chords may be rectangular hollow section, channel section, angle section, or comprise parallel strips between which the lattice bar arrangement is welded.
