Abstract
414,566. Roofs ; girders. PAULSSEN, O., 62, Am Grossen Wannsee, Wannsee, Berlin.-(Assignee of Ola Ostdeutsche Landwerkstatten Ges. ; 13, Sch÷neberger Ufer, Berlin.) Dec. 11, 1933, Nos. 34850 and 34851. Convention dates, Dec. 10, 1932 and Sept. 9, 1933. [Class 20 (iv).] A roof-supporting metal structure comprises a series of trusses or girders each of which consists of a double row of similar bars 3, 5 in parallel planes the bars of the two rows being staggered so that each junction point of the bars in one row is located midway between two junction points of the bars of the other row. The individual bars may be formed by cutting a metal plate, Fig. 7, at the lines 14, and flanging as shown at 15, 16, the ends of the plates being chamfered as at 18<1>, while the lugs 17 are turned over to form rests for purlins 11 when the bars are interengaged as shown in Fig. 3. The bars 5 are spaced from the bars 3 at the junction points of the latter by flanged distance-pieces 21, Fig. 5, lower purlins 12 being carried by the flanges 15, 21<1> of the bars 5 and of the distancepieces. Bolts 22 secure the bars 3 and 5 at the junction points. Various modifications of the joints are described and shown. According to one modification, the bars 3<1>, Fig. 9, may make a mitred butt joint, connected by a #- section distance-piece or by a wooden block to the bars 5<1>. According to another modification, the bars may be built up of web members 29, Fig. 11, with angle-irons 30, the butt joints of the bars 29 being connected through a plate 31 to a channel-bar 32 which carries the purlin 11 and to which the bars 29<1> are also secured. The bars may also be built up of parallel angle-irons braced by a lattice. The butt joints may be strengthened by fishplates. The end bars of each truss may carry bearing plates 8, Fig. 1, for mounting on the walls 7, the plates being connected by tie-bars 9 to which are connected the hangers 10.
