A ceiling hanger comprises a metal strip 20, Fig. 4, bent to approximately U-shape, and at least two wire legs 21, 22 secured to said U- shaped strip and extending in a direction generally opposite to that of the arms 24 of the U-shaped strip. The legs 21, 22 may be disposed in a line transversely of the U-shaped strip as in Fig. 4, or longitudinally of the U- shaped strip as in Fig. 5. The wire legs may be formed as a loop which is secured to the U- shaped strip either at outer ends of the loop as in Fig. 4 or at the bend of the loop as in Fig. 5. The legs may be welded to the U-shaped strip. In the Fig. 5 arrangement, the outer ends of the loop may be connected together. The arms of the U-shaped strip are formed with holes 23 for receiving nails by which ceiling battens 29, Fig. 2, may be secured to the hanger. The hangers may be used with floors formed of precast beams 27, Fig. 2, by bending the wire legs over a beam or by twisting the legs together above a nail or small bar bridging adjacent beams as in Fig. 3 (not shown). The hangers can also be used when the precast beams are spaced apart by filler blocks. Numerous alternative forms of the hanger are disclosed.
