Abstract

1,181,765. Flexible pipes. KABEL-UND METALLWERKE GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE A.G. 22 Aug., 1968 [24 Aug., 1967], No. 40L42/68. Heading F2P. Concentric metal pipes, e.g. for flow and return of heating water, are corrugated helically or circumferentially for flexibility. In the form shown in Fig. 1 for use where flow and return temperatures are similar, the inner pipe 1 is supported without insulation in the outer pipe 2 by a helical spacer 3 or by profiled distance pieces. The inner tube 1 may be thin, as shown, when the pressure differential is slight, and both pipes are of copper. A steel sheath 6 is spaced and insulated from the outer pipe by a helical spacer 5 or by polyurethane foam. This sheath is protected by an anticorrosion bitumen layer 7 and a further sheath 8, e.g. of P.V.C. If necessary, the thermal insulation 11 may be interposed between the flow and return pipes, as shown in Fig. 2, the other components being as before.
