Abstract

1,129,764. Insulating and supporting pipes. E. RYGH, [trading as INDUSTRI-ISOLERING E. RYGH]. 18 May, 1966 [21 May, 1965], No. 22181/66. Heading F2P. In a heat-insulated pipe support assembly, one or more pipes 16, 17 are freely rested on longitudinally spaced supports 7 (one only being shown) in the lower of rigid foamed plastics trough-shaped sections 1 and 2 constituting a support and heat - insulating casing which envelops and is spaced from said pipe or pipes. The arrangement permits free lateral and axial movement of the pipe or pipes due to thermal expansion or contraction without damage to the insulation. The trough-shaped sections, preferably of foamed polyurethane, are adhered at 10 and may be provided with a waterproof plastics cover and also a glassfibre-reinforced polyester coating. A continuous foil inner layer 4, such as aluminium or aluminium-coated plastics, may be provided. Each support 7 comprises rollers 6 on a shaft 8, which shaft is journalled in the side walls 12 and 14 of a U-shaped metal support member embedded or mounted in the lower troughshaped section. An inverted U-shaped yoke 5, having a removable centre portion 18, is also fixed to the side walls of the metal support member to protect the trough-shaped sections from damage on excessive radial or lateral movement of the pipe or pipes. The pipe or pipes may be restricted against radial movement only at distantly spaced point by clamps on long pipe runs.
