Abstract

1461177 Microwave tunnel oven KREIS AG 11 April 1974 [11 April 1973] 16399/74 Heading H5H The absorbing end sections e.g. 12 of a microwave tunnel oven are provided in the space between the conductive outer casing 17 and the tunnel lining 21 with a plurality of groups of axially spaced microwave absorbent ferrite load members 23 to prevent the escape of radiation, thereby enabling the length of each end section 12 to be reduced. The load members 23 comprise ferrite rods or tubes supported in holes 22 in P.T.F.E. ribs 19 which support P.T.F.E. plates 23 from the casing 17 to form the tunnel lining. The space between the load members 23 and casing 17 is filled with asbestos, fibreglass, or mineral wool mat thermal insulation, and the space between the load members 23 and the lining 21 enables cooling air to flow in the direction of arrows 25. A tubular water load in the form of a square-cornered helical plastics tube preferably in contact with the outer surface of lining 21 may be provided in addition to the groups of ferrite load members.
