Abstract

A device for measuring a force applied between a pair of co-operable rollers on parallel spindles comprises a blind recess 5 in a body 1 housing a piston 6 provided with a push rod 14 protruding into the bearing area of a seat 15 to contact one of the spindles so that when the spindle presses on a seat 3 pressure is transmitted hydraulically from a chamber 10 through a duct 16 to a pressure gauge 24 which indicates the force between the rollers. The piston is made fluid-tight by a washer 9 held by a nut 8. A zero adjustment can be made by means of a bleed-valve 19, 20. To adapt the device for rollers of different diameters, the push rod 14 can be replaced with another of suitable length.
