Abstract

109,506. Dixon, H. H. Oct. 4, 1916. Hoods provided with connexions for breaking the joint of the back stretcher rod or stay e by the collapsing movement of the cant-rail have the rod or link g connecting the stay e with the cantrail adjustable in length for properly positioning the parts in mounting the hood. In the cabriolet shown, the link g is connected to the extension d<3> of the hinge member d<4> of the cant-rail a pivoted to the pillar b at d<2>. The cant-rails a, a' are hinged to the rearwardly falling pillar m and the hoop-stick h is controlled by links c<2>, k pivoted thereto and to the pillar b and the cant-rails a<1>. The application to a landaulet also is described. In this case, the cant-rail turns upwardly with respect to the pillar b and is connected therewith by a pair of links, of which one is constituted by the member d' which is pivoted to the cant-rail in this case instead of being fixed thereto.
