Awnings and canopies for exposed seats.-Relates to the front extension of a motor-vehicle hood described in Specification 26,377/06, [Class 108, Road vehicles], comprising hoop-carrying members c, d, hinged at c<1>, d<1> to the falling pillar b, jointed at c<2>, d<4> and pivoted together at d<2>. According to the present arrangement, the two parts of the member d have upwardly curved ends at the joint d', which thus abuts against and supports the member c in the extended position and renders the use of hinge butt joints in this member unnecessary. The joint d<4> may also be provided with disks d<6> or the like which embrace the member c and stiffen the frame laterally. In the collapsed position, shown in Fig. 6, the disposition of the joint d<4> between the members b, c prevents undue creasing and chafing of the covering-material. The device may be applied as a canopy for seats.
