Abstract

1,091,666. Valves. BRITISH THERMOSTAT CO. Ltd. Oct. 24, 1966 [Oct. 25, 1965], No. 45050/65. Heading F2V. A thermostatically controlled valve comprises a valve member 1 attached to a sealing plate 7 by means of a flexible joint, the valve being so constructed that the fusible joint is free of direct mechanical stress while the sealing plate is provided with means 8, such as a tag, to attach it to the valve member after the fusible joint has melted. The plate 7 closes two arcuate apertures in the member 1 and may alternatively be attached to it by a tag secured to the valve member or by a spot welded rivet. A bellows or similar sensing element acts through a rod 6 on the valve member which may be used in an engine-cooling system.
