Abstract

1388945 Valves BRITISH LEYLAND (AUSTON-MORRIS) Ltd 12 April 1973 [18 April 1972] 17806/72 Heading F2V A thermostatically controlled valve comprising a valve closure member 4 biased by a spring 6 on to a seat 5 and opened by a thermoresponsive element 7 of the "wax-capsule" type is provided with bleed-passageways 13 in the valve seat and a housing which is formed with a tapered screw thread 2. The element is adjusted by a screw 15. The element and spring are held in the housing by a separate clip 11 as shown or the clip may be moulded integral with the housing having a hinge at one end and a snap-fit connection at the other end for fitting into a correspondingly shaped part of the housing. The housing material may be glass-filled nylon (35-50% glass) or may be die-casted in aluminium.
