1385372 Temperature responsive actuating elements Y KUZE 10 Feb 1972 [10 Feb 1971 28 May 1971] 6232/72 Heading G1D In a temperature responsive actuating device in which an actuating rod 16 moves longitudinally within a guide member 13 in response to changes in volume of a thermally responsive substance 15 in a chamber 10, a rubber or rubber-like sealing plug 14 is provided in the guide member to provide a fluid-tight seal between the substance 15 and the actuating rod 16, and the plug has end portions each of which has a convex free end. As shown, the thermally responsive substance which may be a liquid or a wax is contained in the chamber 10 which is shaped at one end to receive and retain the guide member 13 which is of metal. A sealing washer 20 in engagement with the actuating rod 16 is mounted in a recess of the guide member, such recess having a portion 25 in which lubricant can be located and an anti-chafing disc 18 of soft plastics material is located between the actuating rod 16 and the plug 14.
