Abstract
1,248,893. Valves. THOMSON INTERNATIONAL CORP. 5 Feb., 1970, No. 5505/70. Heading F2V. Fail-safe thermostatic valve particularly for I.C. engine cooling system, comprises a temperature responsive valve having a valve member 26 co-operating with a seat 18, the valve being connected to an attachment means 38, for fixing to a conduit 14, through fusible connector means 32. On breaking of this fusible connection owing to excess temperature, the whole valve lifts from the attachment means 38 to open a passage for the fluid. The connector means may as shown be a sleeve of solder or plastics material having flange-like tabs which will normally separate at the juncture of the tabs with the sleeve part. In other embodiments a disc part 34 of a frame 16 is soldered to the part 38, Figs. 7-12 (not shown). The connector may in addition be frangible and break under excess fluid pressure.
