Abstract

An aluminium base alloy comprises:- .Pb.2 - 30% .or Pb.2 - 10% .and Sn.2 - 20% .Si.12 - 25% the balance apart from incidental impurities, being aluminium The alloys may optonally contain up to 7% in total of Mg, Cu, Ni. The alloys are stated to be useful for making cylinders and cylinder liners for use with aluminium pistons.
