Abstract

1,089,151. Electrostatic generators. N. FELICI. Jan. 8, 1965 [Jan. 9, 1964], No. 996/65. Heading H2A [Also. in Division G3] The output voltage of a rotatable eleotrostatic generator having a constant excitation voltage is regulated by varying the speed of rotation of the generator. In one embodiment (Fig. 1, not shown), the generator is driven by a permanent magnet D.C. motor supplied over a resistor or a barretter from a constant voltage source. The load torque of this type of generator is proportioned to the output voltage; thus, the driving motor tends to slow down when the output voltage tends to increase, whereby the output voltage is maintained within acceptable limits. The driving motor may be shunt wound with a series bucking winding (Fig. 3, not shown), or may have a shunt winding associated with two regulating resistors (Fig. 5, not shown).
