Abstract

1,005,597. Control of A.C. motors. LICENTIA PATENT VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. July 5, 1962 [July 12, 1961], No. 25776/62. Heading H2J. The acceleration of an induction motor supplied at variable frequency from counterparallel or cross-connected current converters is limited to prevent excessive currents by means limiting the rate of charge of the supply frequency. The converters are controlled by the output from a permanent magnet A.C. generator 8 driven by a D.C. shunt motor 7 at a speed determined by an adjustable voltage source 6. As shown, the D.C. motor current, and hence its acceleration, is limited by a constant current device 11, 12, but in an alternative arrangement the D.C. motor is coupled to an inertia wheel and a resistor is included in its circuit. It is stated that the former arrangement results in linear acceleration while in the latter case it is exponential. It is stated that the supply voltage to the induction motor increases with its frequency, and that the motor/alternator arrangement may be replaced by a transistorized inverter. Specification 644,851 is referred to.
