Abstract

915,388. Control of D.C. motors. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS - G.m.b.H. May 29, 1961, No. 19291/61. Class 38 (3). [Also in Group XXXV] A system for controlling the speed of a direct current motor 2 comprises a direct current generator 1 which supplies the motor 2 by way of a rectifier 5, variation of the output voltage of the generator 1 effecting the main speed control of the motor 2, a series circuit comprising an auxiliary direct current generator 3 and a switching transistor 4 being connected in parallel with the rectifier 5 so that a further, more limited, speed-control of the motor 2 may be effected by switching the transistor 4, the value of this further speed variation being determined by the frequency at which the transistor 4 is switched, this being governed by a control device 6. The auxiliary generator 3 is poled so as to reversely bias the rectifier 5. A system for controlling a plurality of motors is described, the main generator 1 effecting simultaneous control of all the motors whilst the auxiliary generator is individually switched to each motor.
