Abstract
1,127,206. Electric motors. SIEMENS SCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. 8 June, 1966 [16 June, 1965], No. 25636/66. Heading H2A. An electric motor has an n-phase centretapped winding (n#2) supplied from a unidirectional voltage supply through an electronic commutation arrangement consisting of switching elements interconnecting the phase windings, and controlled by auxiliary windings coupled with the respective phase windings so that in operation the parts of the phase windings which have induced voltages opposed to the supply are connected in series and the switching elements carry current through 180 degrees electrical. As shown, the motor has a 2-phase winding 1, 2 and 3, 4 connected to supply V through transistors 5, 6, 7, 8 which have their bases connected to centretapped auxiliary windings 9, 10 and the centre taps connected together through resistor 11. The voltages induced in the auxiliary windings are 90 degrees electrical out of phase and cause current to flow in the part of a phase winding in which the induced voltage is opposite to the applied voltage. In a 3-phase motor, Fig. 3 (not shown), the auxiliary windings are connected to the bases of the associated transistors and have the centre-taps connected to the emitters of their respective phases.
