Abstract
1,076,223. Transistor circuits. HITACHI Ltd. Aug. 18, 1964 [Sept. 10, 1963], No. 33744/64. Heading H3T. [Also in Divisions G3 and H2] In a brushless D.C. motor the rotor position is indicated by a high-frequency signal appearing at one pair of stationary coils L6, L7, L8, say L8, and this signal e 3 is applied to NPN transistor TR 8 after rectification by diode D 3 as a substantially triangular wave. In addition, a bis voltage eb derived from winding L3 on transformer T 1 and rectified by diode D3 is added to the signal e 3 to alter the voltage applied to transistor TR 8 and hence its conduction time. The output of the NPN transistors controls the directly coupled PNP switching transistors TR 3 , TR 4 ; TR 6 , TR 7 ; TR 9 , TR 10 which control the supply of current to the armature windings L9, L10, L11. Since the duration of these current pulses is varied by varying the bias voltage eb the variable resistor VR 1 can be used to control the motor speed. In a modification the motor speed is stabilized by an additional circuit which sums the number of current pulses at the output of the NPN transistor in a given time and modifies the bias with this output which is proportional to speed. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,032,066.
