Abstract

1,088,345. Safe load indicators. REIDAR STORM VILNO. May 16, 1966, No. 21697/66. Heading B8B. An overload device for cranes comprises a U-shaped spring 3, 8, 13 which is connected in the lifting rope by lugs 5, 11 and pre-stressed by a screw 9 so that when the pre-set load is exceeded the arms 3, 13 of the spring are pulled apart and a micro-switch 1, 2 is closed to operate a warning system. Movement of the arms 3, 13 is limited by a screw 15. Fig. 2 (not shown), illustrates a spring stamped from a flat sheet in which projections (27), (31) limit distortion due to the load. A pre-setting screw (28) is provided and a micro-switch is housed in a space (17). The size of a hole (22) determines the load range for which the spring is suitable.
