995,091. Preventing overload of cranes. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS G.m.b.H. Nov. 2, 1961, No. 39280/61. Heading B8B. An overload prevention device for cranes comprises circuit elements producing electric signals which individually represent pay-load weight, tare weight and lever arm length, and a signal combining element producing a resulting signal which operates an alarm when a predetermined signal strength is reached. A signal proportional to load weight is fed to an amplifier 4 through terminals 8, 9 and the amplifier output is fed to an adding circuit 5. Here a signal proportional to the weight of the displaceable load supporting structure from a circuit 3 is combined with the first signal. In a multiplying circuit 2 the signal from circuit 5 is combined with a signal representing lever length from an amplifier 1. A potentiometer R 1 responds to luffing movements and a potentiometer R 2 compensates for movements of the crane base from a horizontal plane, e.g. in floating cranes. A first warning signal may be operated when 80% of safe load is reached.
