Abstract
1479031 Measuring crane load FORNEY INTERNATIONAL Inc 16 July 1974 [25 July 1973(2)] 31393/74 Heading GIN [Also in Division B8] A load indicating system for a crane includes a load cell 30 monitoring tension in a line suspending the load and including a strain gauge resistance bridge, the cell signal being amplified 102 and the resultant signal being multiplied by a signal derived from the setting of a manually adjustable switch (54) Fig.5 (not shown) representing the number of lines by which the load is suspended, in a circuit including a second amplifier 114. The resultant total load signal is compared in a third amplifier 130 circuit with a limit load signal set by manually adjustable switch (56) and in the event of an overload transistor Q 1 is triggered to activate audible and visible alarms. A self-check facility is provided whereby relay R L1 actuates switch 146 to provide a voltage representing a given load to first amplifier 102 and a given multiplier representing the number of lines is simulated by switching R 53 into circuit via switch 138. A boom angle measuring system is also provided using a potentiometer 222 with its slider coupled to the boom and providing a signal to amplifier 258.
