Abstract

1,067,687. Securing ropes. BRITISH HOIST & CRANE CO. Ltd. Nov. 8, 1965 [Nov. 9, 1964], No. 45522/64. Heading B8B. A clamping device for lifting ropes 8 comprises a grooved abutment drum 2 attachable through a plate 1 to an anchorage, and supporting rope clamping elements 5 of a material of lower crush resistance than the rope. The curvature of the drum 2 is such that the rope passing thereover does not have its elastic limit exceeded. The clamping elements 5, together with clamping plates 6, are drawn towards each other for clamping by nuts on bolts 4 secured to the plate 1. Grooved rope guides 9 are secured to the clamping plates 6. The drum may or may not be rotatable on the plate 1.
