Abstract
1,087,622. Coaxial cables. UNITED-CARR Inc. March 29, 1966 [April 21, 1965], No. 13774/66. Heading H1A. The coaxial cable shown has a central conductor 2 coated with a sheet or tape of initially unsintered P.T.F.E. 4 and spaced by a thread or tape 6 of sintered P.T.F.E. from a further initially unsintered P.T.F.E. layer 8. When the assembly is heated to sinter coats 4 and 8 the thread indents and adheres to the first coat 4 and the outer coat 8 collapses down between the convolutions of the thread. The outer coat is plated with a conductive material to form an outer conductor 12. In the arrangement of Fig. 4 (not shown), the convolutions of the thread are more widely spaced so that the outer layer enters the space between the threads more deeply.
