1,087,295. Air supply to open fireplaces. J. L. DAVIES. Sept. 25, 1964, No. 9456/66. Divided out of 1,087,294. Heading F4W. A grate front for supplying air for secondary combustion to an open domestic fireplace comprises two hollow vertical members 1 spaced apart by horizontal fire-bars 9 and by a top horizontal tubular member 2 containing jets 3 through which air issues after passing from an ashpit 7 through members 1. A slotted fuel carrier 4 is supported by a circular grate bottom 5 oscillatable by means of a lever 6. The front of the fireplace is closed by a door comprising spaced apart convection tubes or panels 10. The grate front may be used in conjunction with the back boiler described in Specification 1,045,482.
