Abstract
1,087,248. Gas chromatograph. BODENSEEWERK PERKIN-ELMER & CO. G.m.b.H. Jan. 14, 1965 [Jan. 15, 1964], No. 1717/65. Heading B1L. A gas chromatograph comprises a column enclosed in an oven having insulating walls, a sample injector and a detector which is at least partly within the oven wall and provided with independent heating. As shown in Fig. 3 the detector 50 and sample injector 38, Fig. 6, are both located in the oven wall and heated by element 92. The detector is of the flame ionisation type, to the nozzle 48 of which the column effluent is admitted from line 60 together with burner gas from line 58. The injector Fig. 6 comprises a capillary into which the sample is injected through diaphragm 84, carrier gas being supplied through line 42, annular chamber 82 and radial line 80 to column connection 90. In Fig. 1 (not shown) there is illustrated a motor having impellers to circulate heated air in an annular space containing a heating grid and surrounding an inner shell containing the column.
