1,086,987. Counting-apparatus. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. March 17, 1965 [March 17, 1964], No. 11409/65. Heading G4D. Metering impulses at magnet 6 oscillate an escapement to permit a synchronous motor 1 to drive a total register 9 through a clutch 3. Each impulse also drives a storage device 11 comprising a series of idle-motion discs. The device 11 acts on one sun-wheel 14 of a differential gear 15. Initial movement of the associated planet wheel and cardan shaft 30 frees a stop member 32 from an arm 33 which then makes one revolution, driven by the motor 1 through a further clutch 20. This drives the other sun-wheel 16 to restore the step member 32. Each revolution of arm 33 adds one to a maximum-demand meter 23. At the end of a metering period the total on 23 is printed and meter 23 zeroized. During the printing operation a device 24 engages arm 25 to prevent rotation of arm 33. Incoming pulses are then stored in the idle-motion discs of device 11 and in spring 31. When printing is complete the stored impulses are entered by the appropriate number of rotations of arm 33 into meter 23.
