Abstract

1334012 Odometers GENERAL MOTORS CORP 12 Aug 1971 [21 Aug 1970] 37888/71 Heading G1K [Also in Division G4] Reversing of a counter, such as an odometer, is prevented by a drive which operates only in the forward direction and comprises a disc 25 with a flexible finger 40 formed from it and engaging with teeth 22 on the inside of the lowest denomination number wheel 14. All the number wheels are the same, the teeth 22 forming part of the transfer mechanism which includes a single tooth (35) on the other side of the wheel and a small gear (18) Fig.2 (not shown) supported in a slot in a non- rotating plate 16 between the wheels. The tooth (35) is arranged to lock with the small gear (18) upon reversal so that the wheel 14 is restrained and finger 40 slips over teeth 22. The plate 25 is moulded in plastics integrally with a drive pinion 26.
