Abstract

1399857 Timers E S PERRY Ltd 1 June 1972 [13 June 1971] 9239/71 Heading G3T [Also in Division G5] A device for measuring off a fixed time interval and which may be used as a teaching aid comprises a fixed dial 11 of helical form and having a slit through which a movable dial 10 is screwed as the latter is rotated by a driving mechanism, the action being produced by a pin 15 on the dial 10 engaging a helical groove 14 in a fixed member 12. As shown the driving mechanism is a weight 4 attached to a rack 2 and able to be raised by a lever 7. A pinion 3 meshes with the rack and drives a member 6 through a clutch, the member 6 having axially extending dogs 8 which engage tapezoidal grooves (9) Fig. 4, (not shown) in the dial (10) to permit the necessary axial movement of the latter. The device runs for one minute and gives a display in the form of an arcuate band increasing from zero to a complete annulus.
