The present invention relates toimprovements in changeable exhibitors and particularly to the type, whereby a plurality of objects may be successively exposed to view, a part of one of the objects, however, being continually exposed to view, while the other part is alternately exposed to view at predetermined intervals. V
:An object of this invention resides in the provision of an exhibitor having two sets'of relatively slidable display members, one set of display members being non-removable'and causing a non-changeable exhibit, and the other set being removable and adapted for changing the exhibit.
Another object of this invention residesin the particular arrangement and structural features of the cooperating elements. f
With these and other objects in view, the invention will hereinafter be more particularly described, and the combination and ar-' rangement of parts will be shown in the accompanying drawings and pointed out in.
the claims which form part of this specification, it being understood that the embodiment herewith shown is merely illustrative and that various changes in the form, proportion, size and minor details of construction withinthe scope of the claims, may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention.

In the illustrated embodiment of the invention, the numeral 10 represents sidewall uprights which are fastened to the casing 11' inany suitable manner, as by means of screws 12, 12. Theuprights 10, 10 are provided witha pluralityof angular extensions 13, 13, which are positioned relative to each other in series, in parallel planes, in angular relation with the vertical plane, and the adjoining ends'ofany two extensions of the series being in the same horizontal plane.
'Each of the extensions 13 is provided with a projecting rivet 14, which is in alignment with a similar rivet 14, on the corresponding extension on-the opposite upright 10, as best shown in Figure 7 Mounted on each pair of aligned rivets is one of the non-slidable exhibit members 15 best-shown in Figure 10,- each of said members having apertures 16, 16, therein, which are larger in diameter than the heads of the rivets 14, 14, and allow clearance for the heads to pass through and the said'members to rest on the bodies of therivets. Two elongated tubular slitted mem bers'17, 17 are slidably mounted over and engage with theheads of all the rivets '14, 14, Figure 2. is a front elevation of the device,

The exhibit members 15, 15 are positioned relative toeach other. the same as the angular extensions 13, 13, and are provided on one of a suitable height to fit and to be glued on to thenon-slidable exhibit members 15, 15." The adjoining ends of any two of the exhibit members 15, are in the same horizontal plane and being very close to each other they present a display surface which appears to be unbroken and the completeness of vision of the displayed object is to all practical purposes substantially perfect.
Clock mechanism 19 is suitably concealed and supported within the casing ll rearward of the exhibit members 15, 15, the hands 20 of the clock mechanism 19 extending in front of the exhibitor. The dial of the clock is temporarily not visible and there results at one period a partial exhibit of the-clock and a full exhibit of the advertising poster, as best shown in Figure 2. At this point, the display surface discloses an incomplete representation ofthe clock and the effect produced on observers is'to momentarily arrest their attention and to cause them-to wait for the completion of the supplementary representation which consists of the dial of the clock. It is obvious that the hands 20 are continually actuated by the clock mechanism 19 within the casing and continually move over the display surface and indicatethe'correct time whensupplemented by the appearance of the clock dial.
Slidably mounted within the casing 11, and rearwardly of the- exhibitmembers 15, 15, are two upright guide- rods 21, 21, having fixedly mounted at their lower ends two spaced horizontal beam- members 22, 22, thus forming a rectangular frame 23. 'An electric motor 24, having a crank arm 25, is mounted in the casing 11" adjacent the frame 23. Rotatably mountedon the crank arm -is a roller 26, adapt-ed tocontact withthe inner'horizontal faces of the beam members 22, 22. When the-motor is in operation, the roller 26 contacts with the lower beam member 22, and lowers the frame 23, to the position shown in Figures 3 and: 5, and on the upward swing of the crank arm 25, the roller contacts with the upper beam member 22,
and: raises the frame 23, and the- guide'rods 21, 21. Fixe'dly mounted in spaced relation onthe guide rods 21, 21, is a plurality of U shaped members 27, 27, positioned in parallel planes similar to thepositions of the nonslidable exhibit members 15, 15, and adapted to cover and hide from view the advertising poster 18, as best shown in Figure 3. The- U shaped members 27, 27 have their rearwardlypositioned sides twice as long as the front sides and each member 27 is thus adapted to hide from view two exhibit members 15, 15. The exposed faces of the members 27 have painted or glued thereon the component partsof the representation of the dial- 28 of the clock 191 The full representation of the clock is thusvisible to-the 'observer as shown in Figuresl and? It will thus be noted that'wh'en the motor 24 is in operation, the up and down motion of'the frame'23, and the guide rods 21, 21,
Will cause the U shaped members 27, 27, of the slidable exhibit to reciprocate up and down and to successively expose to view a plurality of objects, one of the objects being presented in an incomplete form at predetermined intervals.
It will also be noted that while the embodiment herewith shows the changeable exhibitor When employing a clock or watch for the incomplete representation, that the hands and dials of electric measuring instruments or that of weighing scales may be used for this purpose.
It is readily apparent that the structure of my changeable exhibitor makes it possible toquickly remove the tubular lock members 17, 17 and the exhibit members 15,15, and to substitute any other exhibit.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a changeable exhibitor having stationary and relatively slidable display mem-- bers, the combination with upright frame members having angular extensions, a plurality of stationary display members detachably mounted on said extensions, said display members being positioned relative to each other in series, in parallel planes, in angular relation with the vertical plane, the adjoining ends of any two display members being in the same horizontal plane and presenting the. component parts of the display as an unbroken unit, and a plurality of cooperating display members slidable relative to and alternately covering said stationary display members and forming a changeable exhibit.
2. In a changeable exhibitor having stationary and relatively slidable display members, the combination with two spaced upright frame members provided with angular extensions and with rivets having projecting heads,.aplurality of stationary display members detachably mounted on said rivets, two elongated slit tubular members adapted to engage with the heads of said rivets and lock said display members in position, the adjoining ends of any two display members being in the same horizontal plane and presenting the component parts of the display as an unbroken unit, and a plurality of cooperating display members slidable relative to and alternately covering said stationary display members and forming a changeable exhibit 3. In a changeable exhibitor having stationary and relatively slidabledisplay' members, the combination with two spaced upright frame members provided with angular extensions, a plurality of stationary display members detachably mounted in series on said extensions, two elongated slit tubular members'adapted to engage with said projections and lock said display members in position, a plurality of cooperating slidable display members mounted for'reciprocation relative to and alternately covering said stationary display members, and means associated with said slidable display members for means for locking said component display members in position, a plurality of cooperating slidable display members mounted for reciprocation relative to and alternately covering said stationary display members, means associated with said slidable display members for reciprocating the. same, and timepiece mechanism concealed interiorly of said exhibitor, the timepiece hands extending and being permanently visible in front of said exhibitor, and thesaid slidable exhibit consisting of the component parts of the time- 2 piece dial.
5. In a changeable exhibitor having stationary and relatively slidable display members, the combination with a casing, two spaced uprights in said casing provided with extending arms, a plurality of stationary component display members mounted in series on said arms, means for securing said display members in position, a plurality of cooperating slidable display members mounted for reciprocation relative to and covering said stationary display members at intervals, means associated with said slidable display members for reciprocating the same, timepiece mechanism concealed interiorly of said casing, the timepiece hands extending and being permanently visible in front of said exhibitor and one of said exhibits consisting of the component parts of the timepiece dial.
6. In an advertising device having stationary and relatively slidable display members, the combination with two spaced uprights provided with extending arms, a plu-' rality of stationary display members mounted on said arms, means for securing said display members to said'extensions, a plurality of cooperating slidable display members mounted for reciprocation relative to said stationary display members, each of said slidable display members covering two stationary display members at predetermined intervals, means associated with said slidable display members for reciprocating the same, timepiece mechanism associated with said exhibitor, the timepiece hands being perma-- extending arms, a plurality of stationary display members detachably secured to said arms, a plurality of slidable display members mounted for reciprocation relative to sald stationary dlsplay members and being provided with power means for said reciprocation, timepiece mechanism incorporated with said device, the timepiece hands being permanently visible in front of said device and one set of said display members representing the timepiece dial.
