Abstract

1,076,960. Clocks. KIENZLE APPARATE G.m. b. H. Dec. 23, 1965 [Dec.28, 1964], No.54545/65. Heading G3T. [Also in Division G1] A record chart carrier 13 and minute and hour hand shafts 21, 23 are driven in synchronism by a main spring in a barrel 3 and can be set simultaneously by turning a knurled knob 27 in either direction. The barrel 3 drives a bushing 8 through toothed wheels 4, 5, 6, 7 controlled through wheels 10, 11 by escapement mechanism. The bushing 8 drives the carrier 13 through a friction spring 12 and the carrier 13 drives the shaft 21, through toothed wheels 15, 17, 18, 19, 20, the wheel 18 also driving the shaft 23 through wheel 22. A closed gear train is completed by the carrier also driving toothed wheels 15', 17', 18', 19', 20. The wheels 18', 19' are interconnected by a volute spring 24 pretensioned in opposite sense to the driving direction so that wheel 18' drives wheel 19' only so far as the simultaneous drive of wheel 20 through wheels 15, 17, 18, 19 allows. Thus backlash is eliminated in the driving direction both when driving and setting and any backlash resulting while setting in the reverse direction is overcome before normal driving begins again.
