Abstract

1323905 Calendar timepieces CITIZEN WATCH CO Ltd 23 July 1970 [23 July 1969] 35873/70 Heading G3T A day calendar timepiece has the days of the week recorded in more than one language and is readily set so that days recorded in the selected language appear at the viewing window. As described, each day of the week is recorded in two languages, viz, English and Japanese as indicated at 25, 23 for Monday, these recordings being carried near the edge of a dial 22 rotated by a 7 - tooth star wheel 13 so that the days of the selected language appear in succession at the window 24. The star wheel 13 is driven by a day feed gear 10 through a drive wheel 12 having fourteen teeth. A pin 11 on the gear 10 drives the wheel 12 through a two -teeth pitch and the wheel 12 drives the wheel 13 through one tooth pitch. A jumper lever 15 has a pair of projections 15c, 15d to index the star wheel 13 in the position shown in which a Japanese recording appears at the window and also has a groove 15e to index the star wheel in a position in which an English recording appears at the window. To change the timepiece to the English position a button 21 is pressed to rotate a lever 16 and index the wheel 22 through one tooth pitch. In a modification Fig. 3, (not shown) the button 21 is omitted and instead the language is selected by a reciprocating motion of the gear 10.
