Abstract

752,932. Pulse metering. LANDIS & GYR AKT.-GES. April 13, 1954 [May 7, 1953], No. 10869/54. Class 37. [Also in Group XIX] A system for summing the total energy registered by a group of individual energy meters 1 (Fig; 1) each sending impulses corresponding to a particular rate of energy consumption to a summation meter 6 is characterized in the addition of an impulse rate converting device 10 to the lines 12 so that all the pulses reaching the meter 6 represent the same rate of energy consumption. The individual meters 1 may comprise a rotor on a shaft which closes a contact once per revolution. The impulse rate converter (Fig. 2) comprises an electromagnetic step-by-step device 14 fed with the pulses from a meter 1 and driving a gear 13 coupled to the sun wheel 15 of a differential 16, so that the planet wheel 25 rotates to lift a brake 27 from the driving disc 29 of a Ferraris motor 21 which drives the other sun wheel 18 of the differential 16 until the brake 27 is replaced, at the same time driving a contact device 24 through gears 19, 22, 23 whose ratio is chosen to give the correct ratio between the pulse input to the mechanism 14 and the pulse output from the contact device 24.
