Abstract

1,086,333. Caps for containers. METAL BOX CO. Ltd. March 14, 1966, No. 11098/66. Addition to 1,047,747. Headings B8D and B8T. In a moulded plastics cap for a container which, according to the parent Specification, is provided with dispensing apertures 6 in the crown 5 of the cap, and in which each aperture 6 is closed by an integral frangible diaphragm 7 carrying a stud 8 by which pressure to break the diaphragm may be applied, the cap is secured to a lip (3), Fig. 4 (not shown), around the container mouth by means of an inturned curl 2, Fig. 3, on a skirt 1 of the cap. The curl 2 may be formed by a cold curling process, and an internal annular collar 13 on the lower surface of the crown of the cap facilitates application of the cap to the container mouth. A tapering upstanding annular wall 11 on the crown 5 facilitates nesting of a stack of such caps, for which a suitable material is polystyrene. An interior surface of the wall 11 makes sealing engagement with the inside of the container mouth.
