A removable door lock comprises a keeper and a lock structure, the keeper having a plate 1 adapted to engage one face of the door and a member 4 adapted to pass across the edge of the door to the other face thereof, the lock structure being engageable with said other face of the door and its casing having a slot 5a or 9 through which a head 6 of the member 4 enters for engagement with a bolt 8a. The construction shown in Fig. 7 is intended for securing two leaves 12 of a double door, the lock structure being on the outside of the door and the member 4 passing between the two leaves with said plate 1 of the keeper engaging the rear face of the door. The keeper comprises the said plate 1 and an additional plate 1 the plate which engages the door leaves having four guide rods fixed to it, on which the other plate slides, the two plates being urged apart by springs 3. The slidable plate 1 carries the member 4 and hence in use when the member 4 is passed between the leaves of the door one of the leaves is clamped between the rear edge of the head 6 and the door engaging plate 1. The head 6 enters the slot 9 in the lock structure to be engaged by the bolt 8a which is movable by means of a key 8 the bolt engaging a slot 7 in the head 6. The casing of the lock structure carries a pad 10 which is pressed by a spring against the door surface when the lock structure is in position. If desired the keeper and lock structure can engage not only two leaves of the door but a fanlight above the door. The lock structure can also be provided with a sliding bolt 11 engageable with a recess in the bottom of the door frame. In another construction for use with a single leaf door. Figs. 9 and 11, the keeper comprises a casing in which is slidably mounted a plate 16 at one end of which is the member 4; the casing comprises said plate 1 which engages the door leaf and a back plate 1. The plate 16 is movable within the casing by a screw threaded bolt 14 passing through a nut 15 attached to the back plate and which loosely engages the plate 16. Hence the screw moves the member 4 so that the door leaf can be clamped between the rear edge of the head 6 and the front plate 1 of the casing. The lock structure has a slot 5a in its casing for the head 6 of the keeper and this is engaged by the bolt 8a which enters a slot 7. The casing has two pins projecting from it which engage in recesses in the door frame. As shown the pins are on the vertical face of the casing but in a modification they can be on the top or bottom face of the casing.
