1,263,393. Hinge with obliquely movable flap; releasable fastenings. BOUSSOIS SOUCHON NEUVESEL. 23 Sept., 1969 [2 Oct., 1968], No. 46712/69. Headings E1J, E2A and E2F. Operation of a handle 23 bodily moves a window or door 1 in a direction which is inclined to the vertical from a position in which it engages a recess 20 in the frame 2 or in the free edge of another similar window or door, to the position shown in Fig. 1 from which it may be opened. The door or window 1 is mounted in the frame 2 by means of hinges 11, one flap of each hinge being connected to the window or door and the other having an integral hinge plate 14 slidably connected by means of studs 22 in oblique slots 40 in a casing 15 secured inside the frame, and one hinge plate having a shaped slot 28 engaged by a roller 26 eccentrically mounted on a crank plate 25 rigidly attached to the handle 23 which, when rotated through 180‹ lifts the hinge plate 14, and therefore the window or door, obliquely upwardly in its own plane to release the latter from the constraint of a sill 4 and recess 20 in the frame 2. A second slot (28a) is arranged symmetrically above slot 28 to allow the hinge to be positioned at either side of the frame. In a modification (Fig. 11, not shown) the roller 26 is replaced by a rotary pinion (45) and the slot 28 by a window (47) having a rack (46) engaging with the pinion.
