Abstract
1,085,990. Switchgear structures. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. June 20, 1966 [June 29, 1965], No. 27530/65. Heading H2B. A metal enclosed switching unit utilizing vacuum switches 32 has first and second switch sets S1 and S2 respectively (see also Fig. 1, not shown) inserted in two sections of a ring main (2) which sections supply power to a spur circuit (8) and are effective to connect and disconnect the spur circuit from either or both sections of the ring main. A further switch set S3 is effective to isolate the spur circuit (8) from the ring main when open-circuited, this set S3 including vacuum switches as in Specification 997,126 and being operated by a handle 18. Each set S1 or S2 of vacuum switches such as 32 is operated by a handle 45 and actuator mechanism comprising linkages 44 and a spring. An earthing switch 48 has interlocking means (not shown) permitting closure only when vacuum switch 32 is open and a removable earth link 54 is contacting an earthing/test terminal 50, the switch 48 being a knife switch operable via linkages 56 and a handle 60. The upper ends 36 of the vacuum switches 32 are connected by bus-bars 40 to switch set S3.
