Abstract
1,158,078. Metal-clad switchgear structures; isolating switches. COQ N.V. 18 June, 1968 [19 June, 1967], No. 28933/68. Heading H1N. In a metal-clad switchgear a double weak isolating switch comprises a central metal casing section supporting an insulating barrier 20 on which are mounted a pair of movable contacts 21, 22, the central section being releasably attached to adjacent casing sections 4, 7 which support respective fixed contacts 10, 11. The central section which may be in two parts 5, 6 shown or a single tube (Fig. 2, not shown) also supports an earthing contact 29. Each space 33, 34 may contain SF 6 and is individually sealed so that when the switch is off and the earth contact engaged, one side of the switch can be dismantled without disturbing the other. The movable contacts 21, 22 are operated by racks 23, 24 and a control gear 26. In a complete switchgear (Fig. 2, not shown) each phase comprises three isolating switches (37, 38, 42) respectively connecting a circuitbreaker (41) to two bus-bars (35, 36) and a cable (44).
