Abstract

1,059,152. Switchgear structures. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Dec. 16, 1963 [Dec.17, l962] No. 47493/62. Heading H2B. A circuit-breaker 16, withdrawable from a position in which its main isolating contacts 20. 21 are in engagement with contacts 11, 12 in the fixed structure 10 to the isolated position shown, has one or more earthing contacts 28, 29 associated with the main contacts 20, 21 and extendable, when the circuit-breaker is in the isolated position, to engage earthed contacts 36, 37 on the fixed structure. The earthing contacts 28, 29 are coaxial with and connected to the main contacts 20, 21 and in the operative position of the breaker engage contacts 26, 27 coaxial with and connected to contacts 11, 12. In the isolated position they may be slid telescopically with respect to the main contacts to engage either the contacts 26. 27 or the earthing contacts 36, 37, mounted on earthed shutters 34, 35, one being engaged with each so as to earth one of the fixed contacts 11, 12.
