Abstract
1,112,112. High voltage switches. A. REYROLLE & CO. Ltd. 12 July, 1965 [10 July, 1964], No. 28674/64. Heading H1N. A high-voltage isolating switch is mounted in a gas-filled bushing insulator 10 and comprises two hollow conductors 20, 23 carrying spring-urged contact elements 21, 25 at their inner ends and connected at their outer ends to terminals 15 (and 16, Fig. 3, not shown). Conductor 23 is movable by an hydraulic cylinder (29) (Fig. 3, not shown), and carries an earthing contact 64 (Figs. 4-6, not shown) which in the open position can be engaged by an earthed contact rod 56 operable hydraulically. A similar earthed contact 57 can engage the fixed conductor 20. The central portion of the housing 11 is conducting and carries a flange 14 for mounting upon the wall of a switchgear cubicle (Fig. 10, not shown). This conducting portion is extended by metal screens 52 within which are mounted current transformers 50, 51. Transparent portions 76 of the housing allow extensions of the rods 56, 57 to be visible and indicate the condition of the earthing switches. In an alternative form (Figs. 8, 9, not shown) a central hollow conductor (107) is engageable by two conductors (111, 112) thus acting as isolators and selectors simultaneously. A switchgear arrangement (Figs. 10, 11, not shown) is described which employs both forms of switch in a duplicate bus-bar arrangement.
