[Class 38 (v)] In metal-clad switchgear having horizontal casings for duplicate bus-bars to which a cable or transformer can be T-connected by isolating switches mounted in or above vertical casings disposed between the bus-bar casings and housing the T-connections, the isolating switch comprises two movable switch arms carried by coaxial sleeves rotatable about a vertical axis, and two stationary contacts each connected to a bus-bar, so that each bus-bar can be connected at will by either or both arms to a desired T-connection. The invention is described in its application to the circuit-breaker of Specification 577,819, Figs. 1-4 (not shown), being identical with the same Figs. of that Specification. The invention can also be incorporated in a fuse and potential transformer construction in which the isolating switch can serve as a bus-bar coupler as well as a selector, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown). A circuit diagram, Fig. 7 (not shown), illustrates how isolating switches may be adapted for the various uses set out above, and also for connecting a line directly to duplicate bus-bars or, alternatively, to another line or transformer.
