A carburetter comprises an air nozzle, through which all the air flows, having a converging entrance 36 leading to a cylindrical throat 42 spaced annular space 48 from the induction passage wall 16, the fuel nozzle 54 discharging downstream of the air nozzle entrance 36. In Fig. 2 the fuel nozzle opens partly into space 48 and partly into the throat 42. In a modification Fig. 8 (not shown) the fuel nozzle (452) opens solely into the annular space (448).
