Abstract
1,083,965. Rolling-mills. MOELLER & NEUMANN G.m.b.H. March 24, 1965 [March 26, 1964], No. 12422/65. Heading B3M. The roll chocks la, 6a of a mill are secured by tie-rods 14 and are urged apart by pistons 16. A setting rod 56 passes through each of one of the tie-rods 14 on each side of the frame and is pivoted to a lever 59 having a portion interposed between two jets 60, 61. The jets are supplied with fluid by a pump 64 and any difference in pressure at the nozzles causes adjustment of a valve 71 through a flexible "feedback " extension 59b to increase or decrease the pressure to the piston 16. The pressure to the piston 16 is adjusted initially by moving the lever 59 by an eccentric 80 adjusted by a motor 90. The motor 90 may be operated automatically to compensate for other factors. In a modification, the eccentric 80 is replaced by a nut on the rod 56 and the lever 59 is supported by springs to eliminate play.
