Abstract

108,278. Haddan, R., (Electro-Chemical Supply & Engineering Co.). March 26, 1917. Plastic compositions containing soluble silicates. - -Siliceous matter, such as quartz, is mixed with apatite or calcium phosphate and sodium silicate, all preferably in a dry state, to produce an acidproof cement, which may be moulded. In order to use it, it is moistened in the usual way and either before or after it sets it is treated with sulphuric or other acid which renders the product waterproof. Suitable proportions are 90 parts of siliceous matter, 10 parts of phosphate, and 30 parts of sodium silciate.
