Abstract
108,118. Herr, H. T. Jan. 16, 1917. Axial-flow type; balancing moving parts.-A turbine has a section 12, 15, 17 through which the steam flows in one direction only and a low-pressure section divided into three or more sub-sections 21, 22, 26, working in parallel, the passages being arranged as shown so that the steam flows in opposite directions through adjacent sub-sections. The turbine may be arranged for duplex flow as shown. An external pipe may be used in place of the internal passage 25, or the sub-sections 21, 22, 26 may be formed on a hollow drum having suitable ports for passing the motive fluid through the drum.
