Abstract

110,785. Baumann, K. Oct. 28, 1916. Addition to 105,933. Axial-flow type; casings; exhaust, disposing of. -Relates to axial-flow turbines wherein the steam from an intermediate stage is led by a conduit to a divided low-pressure stage, through the subdivisions of which the steam flows in opposite directions, and consists inusing for this conduit a particular duct in the exhaust casing claimed in the parent Specification. The duct 12 employed for this purpose is formed between the uppermost internal guide walls 8 and the upper portion of the exhaust casing 6, and serves in the example illustrated to conduct steam leaving the outer portions of the moving blades 13 to the guide blades 16 of one section of the divided low-pressure stage 17, 18. The guides 9 deflect the exhaust steam radially, and the internal guide walls 8 conduct the steam away as described in the parent Specification. A central partition 10 may be provided to prevent eddy losses; or additional curved guides as shown in Fig. 16 of Specification 14053/15 may be provided. In a modification, the conduit 12 is arranged so as to lead the whole of the steam from the intermediate stage to a distributing chamber located centrally within the exhaust casing and between the opposite-flow sections of the divided low-pressure stage.
