Abstract

14,596. Guy, H. L. Oct. 15. Axial-flow type.-The steam leaving the moving blades 13 of the penultimate stage is divided by a fixed wall 15 into two annular portions, the outer portion flowing through an annular steam chamber 22 to fixed and moving blades 24, 25 and the exhaust casing 8, while the inner portion flows through fixed blades 18, 19 and moving blades 21 and passes outwardly to the exhaust casing through transverse passages 27 in the chamber 22. The invention is not restricted to impulse turbines or to any particular number of rows of blades.
